State Police in Marcy is investigating a fatal truck/pedestrian crash that occurred on State Route 365 near South Side Road in the town of Trenton, Oneida County.
On April 24, 2022, just after midnight, a 2003 Ford pickup truck, operated by James J. Alsheimer, age 45, from Cold Brook, NY, was traveling eastbound on Rt. 365 when he struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway.
The pedestrian, 47-year-old Michael W. Grems from Frankfort, NY, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was walking in the dark/unlighted roadway when he was struck.
Alsheimer was evaluated at the scene by a State Police DRE (Drug Recognition Expert), who determined no alcohol or drug impairment.
The investigation is continuing.
