New Rochelle, NY – On June 24, 2022, at approximately 11:10 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-95 in the village of Larchmont for a vehicle and traffic violations. The driver, Philip Thompson, 29, of New Rochelle, NY, was found to be intoxicated. While Troopers attempted to take him into custody, Thompson resisted arrest and forcefully shoved a Trooper towards traffic and against the patrol car, causing damage to it. After actively struggling with two Troopers, Thompson was taken into custody and transported to SP New Rochelle, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be .13%. Troopers requested EMS respond to the station to evaluate and treat Thompson for abrasions he sustained to his knees while resisting arrest, but he declined to be transported to the hospital.
It was determined Thompson has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and as a result, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (previous conviction) and Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .08% or more; both Class E Felonies. He was also charged with two counts of Assault 2nd degree; a Class D Felony, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree; a Class E Felony, and Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree; both Class A Misdemeanors.
Thompson was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Larchmont Court on July 19, 2022, at 6:30 p.m.
