On February 8, 2020, State Police arrested 44-year-old Jason P. Mallette of Fort Edward, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

While assigned to check on snowbound residents the Town of Chester, State Police stopped Mallette after he was observed driving erratically on State Route 8. When he was interviewed by police, they observed that he was in possession of an open alcohol container and exhibited signs of intoxication. Troopers attempted to administer Mallette the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, but he was unable to complete them.

Mallette was taken into custody and transported to SP Chestertown where he provided a breath sample of .29% B.A.C. He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in Chester Town Court on February 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
