On July 31, 2020, State Police in Queensbury arrested 25-year-old Matthew T. Harrington of Fort Edward, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree (A felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree: Meth-Intent to Sell (B felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance: Narcotic Drug-Intent to Sell (B felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree- Methamphetamine (C felony), Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug (C felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor). State Police also charged 31-year-old Nicolle S. Swinton of Chester, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor).
Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on July 31, 2020, State Police stopped Swinton for a traffic violation as she traveled on I-87 in the town of Queensbury. While speaking with Swinton, Troopers observed signs indicative of drug use inside the vehicle. Swinton and her passenger, Matthew Harrington, were asked to exit the vehicle and a search was conducted. Harrington was found to be in possession of a glass pipe containing methamphetamine residue, and a baggie containing methamphetamine residue was located inside the vehicle. Both Swinton and Harrington were taken into custody and transported to SP Queensbury.
Further search of Harrington at the barracks revealed that he was in possession of approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 9 grams of heroin.
Swinton was processed and released with an appearance ticket and is due in Queensbury Town Court on August 24, 2020. Harrington was transported to Warren County Jail to await arraignment.
