PRESS RELEASE
 
On October 27, 2020 at approximately 6:30 p.m., New York State Police at Owego responded to a head-on collision on State Route 434 near the on-ramp to State Route 17 east in the town of Owego.  Four people were transported to local hospitals.
 

An investigation revealed that a 54-year-old male of Endicott, NY was traveling east on State Route 434 and when making a left turn toward the State Route 17 east on-ramp, failed to yield the right of way and went directly into the path of a vehicle that was traveling west on State Route 434.

The vehicle that was traveling west was operated by an 18-year-old female of Owego, NY.  She and three passengers were transported to local hospitals.  The 18-year-old driver was transported by Apalachin Squad to Robert Packer for minor injuries.   A 73-year-old female of Athens, PA was transported by Apalachin Squad to Robert Packer and is in serious condition.  A 42-year-old male of Owego, NY was transported by Owego Squad to Wilson Hospital and is in critical condition.  A 55-year-old female of Owego, NY was transported by Campville Squad to Wilson Hospital and is in critical condition.

The 54-year-old male who was traveling east, was not transported to a local hospital and was evaluated at the scene.

The investigation is on-going.
