Friendship pursuit ends with charges for Cuba man

On April 20, 2019, SP Amity Troopers arrested Cory A. Pearse, 30, of Cuba, NY for DWAI - Drugs, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.

Troopers attempted to make a traffic stop of Pearse’s vehicle on West Main Street in the town of Friendship, at which time Pearse failed to comply and began to flee. Pearse led Troopers on a pursuit onto South Branch Road. Pearse then fled his vehicle on foot, crossing the eastbound lanes of Interstate 86 and into the median. He showed obvious signs of impairment at the scene, and admitted to using Gabapentin and marijuana prior to driving. Pearse was arrested and transported to SP Amity for processing.

Pearse was arraigned in Friendship Town Court where he was remanded to the Allegany County Jail on $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond. He is due to reappear in Friendship Town Court in May.
