On November 20th, 2020, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Marquis Lewis, 19, of Cleveland, Ohio, for being a Fugitive From Justice, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The Troopers responded to I-86 in Jamestown for a report of an erratically driving vehicle in the eastbound lane. Troopers located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit when the vehicle refused to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle exited the interstate and continued to flee on Main and South Work Streets in Falconer at a high rate of speed, then crashed at the intersection of Peck Settlement Road and Route 60 while attempting to negotiate a turn. The driver, identified as Lewis, was placed under arrest and transported to SP Jamestown. Additional investigation revealed that Lewis was wanted out of Ohio for Aggravated Robbery. Lewis was processed and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment and extradition. None of the occupants in the vehicle, including the minor passenger, were injured in the accident.
