Guilderland, NY - On June 14, 2021, State Police out of SP Albany responded to the Guilderland Service Area on the Thruway to investigate a complaint of suspicious transactions that were made at the Mobil Gas Station. 

A preliminary investigation determined that the gas station employee, Jasmine Smith, 20, of Schenectady, NY, made unauthorized purchases totally $288.00, after recording a customer’s credit card number onto her cell phone while working. 

Smith was taken into custody and transported to SP Albany where she was charged with Identity Theft 3rd degree, Scheme to Defraud 2nd degree, and Petit Larceny; all Class A Misdemeanors.  She was released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Guilderland Court on July 8, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.
