On June 26, 2020, State Police in Fonda arrested 30-year-old old Derrick R. Sweet Jr. of Gloversville, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (D felony), Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree (E felony), and Unlawful Sale of Fireworks (A misdemeanor).

Gloversville Police Department in conjunction with the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit and State Police Fonda BCI, executed a search warrant at a Johnstown residence early this morning.  The search warrant was obtained following an investigation originating with Gloversville Police Department, into several burglaries and larcenies in the Gloversville area. 

Multiple items from the residence were secured as evidence by police. Among the items seized were several hundred dollars’ worth of fireworks, an illegal assault weapon, and many items of stolen property including generators, power tools, and retail merchandise.

Sweet was taken into custody at the residence and transported to SP Fonda for processing. He was arraigned in Perth Town Court and released on his own recognizance, he is due back in court on July 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
