On July 8, 2020, State Police arrested 21-year-old Corey C. Cyrus, of Gouverneur, following an investigation into a domestic dispute that occurred on July 2, 2020, at approximately 9:30 p.m. at a residence on County Route 12, in the town of Gouverneur. Cyrus reportedly menaced the victim with a taser. This all occurred in violation of an order of protection which was previously issued by the Town of Gouverneur Court

Cyrus was charged with Criminal Contempt 1st degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (due to a previous conviction), and Menacing 2nd degree. He was arraigned by the Town of Gouverneur Court and released on his own recognizance.
