On October 26, 2019, State Police in Wilton arrested 20-year-old Shawn M. Orton of Greenfield Center, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree (D felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor), Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (A misdemeanor), and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana 1st degree (violation).
Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, Troopers stopped to check on a vehicle traveling on Strakos Road in Wilton after they observed the operator commit multiple traffic infractions. The vehicle then pull off the side of the road abruptly.
When the Trooper approached the vehicle to speak to the driver, Shawn Orton, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. He also observed a plastic baggie containing marijuana in the cup holder.
A search of Orton and the car revealed that he was in possession of approximately .5 grams of cocaine, multiple plastic baggies containing marijuana, and a digital scale.
Orton was taken into custody and transported to SP Wilton for processing. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Wilton Town Court on November 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
