On August 3, 2019, State Police in Queensbury arrested 34-year-old Shane R. Irish of Greenwich, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs- Leandra’s Law and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree.

 

State Police responded to the Stewart’s on Aviation Road in Queensbury shortly before midnight Saturday, after they receive a report of a suspicious male. When patrols arrived, they spoke with witnesses who stated that the man, later identified as Shane Irish, was acting erratically and was possibly intoxicated. Irish had young child with him at the time.

 

Troopers located Irish as he pumped gas into his vehicle. While speaking with him Troopers observed signs indicative of impairment. Subsequent investigation revealed that Irish was in possession of a quantity of heroin and he was taken into custody and transported to SP Queensbury. Arrangements were made to ensure the welfare of the child who had been in his care.

 

Irish was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed. He was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and it was determined that he was impaired by drugs.

 

Irish was processed and transported to Warren County Jail to await arraignment.
