On May 30, 2020, at approximately 10:19 A.M., State Police arrested 31-year-old Peter D. Gormley of Hammond following a traffic stop on State Highway 37 in the town of Oswegatchie. Gormley was found in possession of a quantity of concentrated cannabis as well as smoking devices. He refused to comply with the investigating troopers and resisted arrest by closing his windows and refusing to exit his vehicle. Once Gormley did exit his vehicle, he engaged in an altercation with troopers by kicking at them. The altercation resulted in bites on both of Gormley’s arms by a State Police canine. Gormley was transported to Claxton Hepburn Medical Center where he was treated for bite wounds.
Following his release from the hospital, Gormley was charged with Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, Disorderly Conduct, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. He was released with tickets for the Town of Oswegatchie Court.
