Queens, New York – On February 23, 2021 at approximately 9:05 a.m., an Investigator from the SP Queens Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Sita K. Saunders, age 61, of Queens, New York, for Identity Theft in the 1st Degree – a class D felony, Grand Larceny in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 2nd Degree – both class C felonies.
The Investigator from the SP Queens BCI assisted the Queens County District Attorney’s Office with an investigation into Saunders, a home health aide, who was suspected of stealing nearly $100,000 from her legally blind, 89-year-old patient’s bank account from early March 2019 through early February 2020 after financial irregularities in the account were reported. As a result of the investigation, Saunders was arrested.
Saunders was charged with Identity Theft in the 1st Degree, Grand Larceny in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 2nd Degree. Saunders was remanded to Queens County Central Booking pending arraignment.
