On January 1, 2020, State Police in Granville arrested 32-year-old Matthew R. Salem of Hudson Falls, for Leandra’s Law- Prior Conviction (D felony), Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs- Prior Conviction (E felony), and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor).
At approximately 5:23 p.m. on Wednesday, State Police were called to the CVS on Dix Ave. in Kingsbury for a man in the store who was acting oddly, and appeared confused.
When a Trooper arrived to check on the man, later identified as Matthew Salem, his behavior led the Trooper to believe he may be under the influence of drugs. Salem, who had driven to CVS with a 14-year-old in the vehicle, was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and showed signs of impairment. Salem was also found to be in possession of a quantity of Xanax that was not prescribed to him.
Salem was taken into custody and transported to SP Granville where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and processed. He was subsequently released with an appearance ticket for Kingsbury Town Court on January 15, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
