On November 4, 2019, State Police in Granville, arrested 48-year-old Mary Beth King of Hudson Falls, for Promoting Prison Contraband 1st degree (D felony) and Making a False Written Statement (A misdemeanor).

King is accused of reporting to police that she was assaulted by an inmate at the Great Meadows Correctional Facility where she is employed as a teacher. King told police that while she was administering a test, an inmate called her to his desk for assistance and then proceeded to slash her leg with a razor blade.

Investigation into the incident revealed that King had not been assaulted and had falsely reported the incident to police.

King turned herself in to Troopers at SP Granville where she was processed and transported to Washington County Jail to await centralized arraignment.

DOCCS Office of Special Investigations assisted in the investigation.
