Florida, NY – On July 16, 2021, at approximately 9:40 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 30 in the town of Florida after observing a vehicle and traffic violation on I-90, near the Amsterdam exit.  The driver, Nkrumah M. Caldwell, 40, of Jamaica, NY, was found to be intoxicated and had a suspended license.  Caldwell was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Fultonville where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.20%.  

Additionally, Caldwell has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and as a result, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree; all Class E Felonies.

Caldwell was released to a sober third party and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Florida Court on August 4, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
