PRESS RELEASE

On August 18th, 2019, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Douglas Murvine, 62, of Jamestown, for two counts of Menacing 2nd Degree and four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 

The Troopers responded to the Chautauqua Gorge State Forest in Mayville for a report of a male subject menacing several people with a rifle.  Investigation revealed that Murvine bacame upset when another camper arrived with two dogs.  Murvine threatened to shoot the dogs and pointed a rifle at the victim and his dogs.  Murvine then set the rifle down, picked up a rock and threatened to strike the victim with the rock.  This all occurred in the presence of four children.  Murvine was placed under arrest, processed at SP Jamestown and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.
