Florida, NY – On Friday, June 11, 2021, at shortly before 11:00 a.m., State Police responded to a serious personal injury crash on I-90 westbound in the town of Florida, Montgomery County.

A preliminary investigation determined Nicholas M. Moulton, 26, of Johnstown, NY, was operating a 2018 Ford F350 westbound, near mile marker 169.8, when he lost the rear driver’s side tire of his vehicle.  The tire crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the hood and windshield of a 2014 Ford Focus.  The Ford Focus’s front seat passenger, Susan J. Sady, 67, of Utica, NY, was transported to Albany Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver, Dariusz M. Sady, 68, of Utica, NY, was transported by ambulance to Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam, NY, where he was then flown to Albany Medical Center by Life Net for serious injuries.  He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

While Troopers continued the investigation and interviewed Moulton, it was determined he was intoxicated.  He was taken into custody and transported to SP Fultonville where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.08%.

Moulton was charged with Vehicular Assault 2nd degree; a Class E Felony and Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor.  He was turned over to a sober third party and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Florida Court on June 24, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.  Moulton was not injured as a result of the crash.
