PRESS RELEASE
 

Plattekill, NY – On March 8, 2020, at approximately 12:05 a.m., State Police stopped a car on I-87 in the town of Plattekill for a vehicle and traffic violation.  While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established.  The driver, Paige A. Sweeney, 20, of Kingston, NY, was found to be in possession of approximately 1.8 grams of cocaine along with drug paraphernalia containing cocaine residue. 

 

The passenger, Jerry Igbinazaka, 35, of Kingston, NY, was found to be in possession of 35.6 grams of cocaine. 

 

The pair were taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Newburgh.  Sweeney was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree; a Class D Felony and Manufacturing Drug Related Paraphernalia; a Class A Misdemeanor.  She was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Plattekill Court on April 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

 

Igbinazaka was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell 3rd degree; both Class B Felonies.  He was arraigned before the Town of Plattekill Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail without bail due to being a 4 time convicted felony offender.  Igbinazaka’s preliminary hearing is set for March 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
