Major Eric L. Laughton
Larceny at the Aces and Eights Gas Station in Southport
On Tuesday August 25, New York State Police responded to the Aces and Eights gas station on Broadway St in the town of Southport for the report of a larceny of several flashlights.
The manager of the store told police that a male had entered the store and concealed $278, worth of flashlights and then left the store without paying. The manager wished to press charges if the subject could be found. Chemung County Communications Center contacted the investigating Trooper, to advise that a male matching the description had been located by Elmira City Police Department in an unrelated investigation. The suspect, Brandon McArthur, age 35 of Elmira, told State Police that he had stolen the merchandise from the gas station and that he had two of the flashlights left but had sold the rest. He refused to provide any more information. McArthur was arrested for petit larceny and issued an appearance ticket to return to the Town of Southport court at a later date.
