State Police to Crack Down on Drug-Impaired Driving During Prevention and Enforcement Campaign

The New York State Police will crack down on drug-impaired driving during an enforcement and prevention campaign on April 20, 2021. During this campaign, State Police will add additional patrols targeting impaired drivers.

Services for Trooper Joseph Gallagher will be held on April 6 and 7, 2021.

Visitation for Trooper Joseph Gallagher will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 and funeral services on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, in the Buffalo area. 

Media will not be allowed inside the funeral home during calling hours.

On April 7, 2021, a media availability will be held promptly at 9:30 a.m. at the designated media area in front of Our Lady of Victory. Media will not be allowed inside during the funeral service.

It is with great sadness that Acting Superintendent Kevin P. Bruen announces the line of duty death of Trooper Joseph Gallagher.

The New York State Police are mourning the loss of Mr. Christian Koch, Division Civilian Pilot, Aviation Unit-Rochester.

Mr. Koch, also a pilot with the New York Army National Guard, was tragically killed on January 20, 2021, when the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter he was flying in crashed in the town of Mendon, in Monroe County.

State Police Acting Superintendent Kevin P. Bruen is saddened to announced the passing of Trooper Jennifer M. Czarnecki.

Trooper Czarnecki died on December 5, 2020, from an illness stemming from her assignment to the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

State Police stop nearly 200 trucks during bridge strike enforcement effort

The New York State Police stopped 196 trucks and issued 50 tickets during a weeklong enforcement effort targeted at reducing the number of bridge strikes on state parkways and other roads with low bridges.

State Police crack down on impaired driving this 4th of July weekend

The New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies will increase patrols to crack down on drunk and drugged driving and other traffic infractions this 4th of July.  State Troopers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and target reckless and aggressive driving statewide in an effort to keep New York highways safe during one of the busiest summer holidays for travel.
