On March 15, 2023 at 4:47 pm, Troopers out of SP Lockport arrested Delman Cortes Jr, 49 of Lockport NY for Driving while Ability Impaired Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Control Substance 5^th, Criminal Possession of a Control Substance 7^th , Harassment 2^nd, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction Governmental Administration and other vehicle traffic violations.

On March 15, 2023, SP Machias Troopers arrested Danny M. Bemish, 57, of Yorkshire, NY for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, six counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7^th Degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2^nd Degree, and four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Non-Original Container.

On March 13, 2023 at 10:09pm Fredonia Troopers on patrol stopped Carla L. Mangus, 37, of Fredonia for traveling with only daytime running lights and no tail lights on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret. 

On March 15, 2023, Troopers out of SP Grand Island arrested Emoke T. Magyari, 46 of Grand Island for driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI.

On March 16, 2023, Troopers out of SP Lockport arrested William C. Giambelluca II, 42 of Buffalo, NY for Criminally Negligent Homicide (E Felony), Driving While Intoxicated- drugs.

On March 13, 2023, Troopers out of SP Clarence arrested Mark A. Vacanti., 58, of Cheektowaga, NY, for Criminal Contempt 2nd.

On March 14, 2023, the NYSP Special Investigations Unit (SIU) arrested Nicholas D. D’Angelo, 30, of Niagara Falls, NY, following an investigation into possible campaign fraud.

On March 12, 2023, Troopers out of SP Boston arrested Paul J. Biellak., 39, of Angola, NY, for felony Driving While Intoxicated-Previous Conviction Within Ten Years.

On March 10, 2023, Members of the Community Stabilization Unit arrested Dwight R. Williams, 44 of Lockport, NY and Dillon S. Smith, 31 of Lockport, NY. Williams was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2^nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd – previous conviction. Smith had seven outstanding warrants.

On March 11, 2023, Troopers out of SP Olean arrested John C. Tait, 24 of Olean, NY for Robbery 1^st degree (B Felony), Menacing 2^nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd.

The New York State Police will crack down on impaired and reckless driving during Super Bowl weekend. The special STOP-DWI enforcement campaign, funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, will include increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify, and arrest impaired drivers, as well as underage drinker enforcement. The enforcement initiative runs from Friday, February 10, 2023, through Monday, February 13, 2023.

New York State Police are alerting the public on the increase in overdoses involving heroin in Western New York from January 27, 2023, to February 7, 2023.  In twelve days, 94 overdoses have been reported including 6 deaths.

The New York State Police will participate in the “Drive High Get a DUI” national campaign and New Year’s impaired driving enforcement to crack down on impaired and reckless driving this holiday season. The enforcement campaign runs from Wednesday, December 14, 2022, through Sunday, January 1, 2023. Drivers can expect to see sobriety checkpoints, along with more Troopers on roadways during the campaign.

On November 28, 2020 at 8:53 P.M., Troopers out of SP Amity responded to a one vehicle collision on State Route 70 in the town of Grove.  Further investigation revealed that a 2017 Chevrolet operated by William J. Hitchcock Jr., 48 of Livonia, NY was traveling northbound on State Route 70 and exited the roadway striking a ditch which subsequently overturned the vehicle.
