Pursuit through several Otsego County roads ends in crash into Sheriff's Department vehicle

On July 13, 2020 4:34 p.m., patrols from the New York State Police at Richfield Springs observed a vehicle leaving the scene of a burglary on County Route 20 in the town of Edmeston and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The operator of the vehicle, who was later identified Jesse M Souza, age 30 of Oneonta, NY failed to comply.

UPDATED INFORMATION: Troopers respond to fatal accident involving pedestrian in Norwich

On July 13, 2020 at approximately 9:50 p.m., New York State Police at Norwich responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.  The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.

On July 13, 2020 at approximately 7:24 a.m., New York State Police at Homer responded to State Highway 41 in the town of Cincinnatus for a truck that rolled onto its side.

Due to the number of complaints from the public, over the July 4th holiday weekend, State Police targeted people bringing illegal fireworks purchased in Pennsylvania into New York State.

State Police crack down on impaired driving this 4th of July weekend

The New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies will increase patrols to crack down on drunk and drugged driving and other traffic infractions this 4th of July.  State Troopers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and target reckless and aggressive driving statewide in an effort to keep New York highways safe during one of the busiest summer holidays for travel.

Traffic stop in Dickinson leads to arrest after illegal fireworks discovered

On June 28, 2020 at approximately 12:51 p.m., New York State Police arrested Casey E. Jean, age 25 of Tully, NY for the misdemeanor of Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks and Dangerous Fireworks.
