Superintendent Keith M. Corlett announced the State Police have launched a new recruiting effort to attract the best and brightest qualified candidates to join one of the most highly respected law enforcement organizations in the country. The State Police will be holding a new Trooper entrance examination this fall across the state.
At approximately 1:50 p.m., today, the State Police attempted to stop a motorist for a traffic violation when the motorist failed to comply and fled troopers. After a brief pursuit the motorist was involved in an accident on St Paul Blvd. near Scrantom Street and then fled on foot.
On March 24th, 2020, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the New York State Police at SP Painted Post investigated a fatal motor vehicle accident, that occurred on West Hill Road in the Town of Hornby.
Superintendent Keith M. Corlett congratulated 226 new State Troopers as they graduated today from the 209th session of the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy.
After a lengthy investigation, on March 10, 2020, the State Police in Lyons arrested Sabrina Quinn, age 35, for Identity Theft 3rd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property - Credit Cards, and Petit Larceny.
On March 14, 2020, at approximately 9:55 a.m., the State Police in Wolcott responded to a 2 vehicle - 1 person fatal on St-Rte 104 and Ridge Road in the town of Wolcott.
On March 9th, 2020, the New York State Police in Wolcott arrested John A. Bizallion for Felony Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child. He was processed and held for Wayne County Centralized Arraignment on March 10th where he was remanded, without bail, to the custody of the Sheriff.
On March 5th, 2020, New York State Police arrested 51 year-old Mellisa L. Carman, of Belfast, NY for Unauthorized Practice of a Profession (Dept. of Education felony) and Hindering Prosecution (class A misdemeanor).
