On July 30, 2020, State Police in Oneida arrested 38-year-old Dana J. Boyden of Oswego, NY for several counts of theft stemming from incidents across several Central NY counties.

Boyden, a local contractor from Oswego, was hired to complete work at a job site in the village of Sylvan Beach in late June 2020.  Beginning around this time, State Police in Sylvan Beach received several reports of property thefts in the Village of Sylvan Beach and the Town of Vienna.  Around the same time, a theft was reported to the State Police in Waterloo in Seneca County.  Boyden became a person of interest due to his employment in the Sylvan Beach area and the unique vehicle he operated which had been seen at or near the reported incidents.  Based on the information gathered in the cross-county investigations, a search warrant was obtained and executed at his residence located in the City of Oswego.

The search warrant resulted in the seizure of proceeds from several of the incidents to include antique automotive memorabilia, power tools, and building supplies.

Boyden was charged with Grand Larceny 4th degree (T/Vienna), Petit Larceny (T/Vienna), Grand Larceny 4th degree (V/Sylvan Beach) and Petit Larceny (T/Tyre).  He was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Vienna Court on August 11, 2020, Village of Sylvan Beach court on August 13, 2020, and the Town of Tyre Court on September 15, 2020.

The State Police would like to thank the many community members that worked together to provide integral information to the NYSP that led to the successful outcome of this investigation.
