PRESS RELEASE

German Flatts, NY – On October 27, 2019 at approximately 2:05 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90 in the town of German Flatts, for a vehicle and traffic violation.  Upon interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle was established.  The search led to the discovery of 5 semiautomatic pistols that were seized.  The driver, Darius W. Banks, 21, of Randolph, MA, did not immediately produce his license, and instead gave Troopers a false name in an attempt to hide that his license was suspended.

Banks was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Herkimer where he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree; a Class D Felony, Criminal Impersonation 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor, as well as another Violation, and multiple Traffic Infractions.

Banks was arraigned before the Town of German Flatts Court and remanded to Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.  He has been scheduled to return to court on November 19, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.
