One man was arrested and charged with three counts of the misdemeanors Menacing in the second degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child after an incident on Main Street in the town of Morris Friday evening.

New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Zachary J. Boynton, age 36 of Morris, NY after three youths believed he pointed a gun at them;  at which point the State Police were contacted.  Word spread quickly through the community and based on the circumstances at the time, Morris School staff made the decision to cancel a homecoming party at the school.

After an investigation, troopers learned that the object that the teens perceived to be a gun was a blue and green colored toy that launches foam darts.  Boyton was issued appearance tickets to the village of Morris court on October 7, 2019.
