New York, New York – On September 22, 2022, the SP Manhattan BCI and CTIU-South assisted the New York City Police Department with the arrest of Jose E. Rivera, age 47, of New York, New York for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree – a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree – a class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Firearm – a class E felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree – a class A misdemeanor.

 

The Investigators from the SP Manhattan BCI and CTIU-South collaborated with the NYPD Major Case Field Intelligence Team, Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office on an investigation where Rivera was suspected of illegally possessing and assembling ghost guns. Search warrants were executed at locations associated with Rivera in New York and Pennsylvania, resulting in the seizure of six ghost guns, including loaded ghost pistols, a ghost assault rifle, and several high-capacity magazines.

 

Rivera was arrested and charged with multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 2nd Degree. Rivera was remanded to Manhattan Central Booking pending arraignment.
