Bethlehem, NY – On June 20, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m., State Police were advised by Thruway dispatch to BOLO (be on the lookout) for a black 2020 Jeep Cherokee which was reported stolen out of Massachusetts.
Troopers observed the vehicle traveling northbound on I-87 in the town of Bethlehem and conducted a traffic stop. The female driver was uncooperative and provided a false name and stated the owner of the vehicle gave her permission to drive it. Troopers contacted the MBTA Transit Police Department who confirmed with the owner that he had no knowledge of the female nor gave her permission to use the vehicle.
The driver, who was later identified as Djeny Janvier, 45, of Canton, Massachusetts, was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Albany where she was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 2nd degree; a Class C Felony, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, and Criminal Impersonation 2nd degree; both Class A Misdemeanors.
Janvier was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. A return court date of August 24, 2020 has been set in the Town of Bethlehem.
