Original release:
New York State Police at Ithaca are searching for 51-year-old Frederick A. Knapp of Lansing, NY.   He is approximately 5-foot 3-inches tall,  weighs 120 pounds and was last seen wearing jeans and a dark gray sweatshirt.  Troopers need to check his welfare and make contact with him.

Troopers were originally dispatched to Knapp’s residence on Locke Road in the town of Lansing at approximately 7:45 p.m., Sunday night after a family member called 911 fearing that Knapp may harm himself and was in possession of a long gun.  Knapp did not make any threats to anyone else or police.  The State Police were assisted by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department and Bangs Ambulance.  Early Monday morning, it was discovered that Knapp was not in the residence and troopers immediately began to search the neighboring area.

If you see Knapp, do not approach him.  He may or may not be in possession of a long gun or rifle.  His mind set is not known at this time, call 911 or Tompkins County Dispatch at (607)272-2444.
