PRESS RELEASE

On April 18, 2020, at approximately 4:19 p.m., State Police responded to a one-car motor vehicle crash on Clark Road in the town of Peru.

An investigation at the scene revealed that a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 pick up truck operated by 23-year-old Jesse B. Irwin, of Peru, was traveling south on Clark Road at a high rate of speed.  Irwin lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center lane and drove off the east shoulder of the road, striking a mailbox at 186 Clark Road. His vehicle then entered back onto the roadway, ran off the west side of the road, and struck a tree in the front yard of 179 Clark Road. Open containers of alcoholic beverages were located in Irwin’s vehicle. He was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI. His blood alcohol content is pending testing. He was transported to the University of Vermont Health Network at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh for an evaluation. He was released with an appearance ticket to the Peru Town Court.
