On June 29th, 2019, the New York State Police and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on North Street in the Town of Broadalbin. The purpose of checkpoints like these is to deter drunk driving. Along with the check point there were extra patrol cars assigned to the area. Two DWI arrests were made during the event.

28-year-old Heather Vanalstyne was charged with DWI and had a blood alcohol content of 0.13%.

35-year-old Christopher Jakubiak was charged with DWI and refused to take a breath test.

We would like to thank all the designated drivers and those that chose to use hired transportation for keeping the roadway safe during this holiday week.
