Queens, New York – On Saturday, September 11, 2021 at approximately 9:05 p.m., Troopers from SP Wards Island arrested Keisy Acosta, age 19, of Jersey City, New Jersey, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree – a class B felony, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree – a class D felony, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child – a class E felony, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Reckless Driving – both unclassified misdemeanors. Additionally, Troopers arrested Tajh Parker, age 20, of Queens, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree – a class A misdemeanor.

 

Troopers were patrolling the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge and activated their emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop on a 2021 Hyundai Sonata, operated by Acosta, because the vehicle was reported stolen. Initially, Acosta refused to comply, but was taken into custody shortly after stopping in traffic. The investigation revealed Acosta operated the vehicle with multiple passengers, including a three-year-old, while being impaired by, and in possession of, drugs. Parker, a passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested after being found in possession of brass knuckles.

 

Acosta was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree – a class E felony, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child – a class E felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree – a class A misdemeanor, Endangering the Welfare of a Child – a class A misdemeanor, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Reckless Driving. Parker was separately charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. Both suspects were remanded to Queens Central Booking pending arraignment.
