PRESS RELEASE

On Saturday July 4th, New York State Troopers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Pine Valley Road in the Town of Catlin. The driver was unable to produce a license or registration and gave them a name and date of birth. As the troopers were verifying the information, the man exited the vehicle and ran into a field with a backpack. The troopers gave chase and took the man into custody after a short foot pursuit. Troopers were able to confirm the man’s identity as Joseph McCarty, age 29, from Beaver Dams, NY. A large quantity of illegal drugs, including heroin, a scale and a large amount of cash were located inside the vehicle Mr. McCarty was driving. Mr. McCarty was arrested for several drug and traffic violations and he was remanded to the Chemung County Jail with no bail.
