New York State Police announce the arrest Richard Scannello, age 54 from Pine Island, town of Warwick for Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child.

On March 25, 2022, New York State Computer Crimes Unit received information from Internet Crimes Against Children that Scannello was downloading explicit sexual materials of minors. After an extensive investigation, Investigators from the Monroe barracks conducted a search warrant on December 6, 2022, at Scannello’s residence in Pine Island.

An analysis of Scannello’s electronic devices led to his arrest on December 13, 2022. He was charged with the ten counts Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, a felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Warwick Court and released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear on December 20, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.
