PRESS RELEASE
 

 

Manchester, NY – On February 22, 2020, at approximately 11:05 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90 in the town of Manchester for a vehicle and traffic violation.  The driver of the vehicle, Kenneth C. Niles, 29, of Newark, NY, was found to be intoxicated while traveling with a 16-day-old infant in the car.  Niles was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Buffalo where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.09%. 

 

Niles was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child in the Vehicle; a Class E Felony and Endangering the Welfare of a Child; a Class A Misdemeanor and was released to a sober third party.  He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Manchester Court on March 4, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.       

 

The infant was turned over to a responsible party at the scene of the traffic stop.
