On September 7, 2019, State Police in Latham arrested 28-year-old Benz D. Coleman of Albany, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th degree (A misdemeanor), Possession of a Skimmer Device 2nd degree (A misdemeanor), Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree ( D felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree ( A misdemeanor), and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana 2nd degree (violation).
At approximately 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, State Police stopped a vehicle on Van Rensselaer Blvd in Menands when the driver was observed not wearing a seat belt. When the Trooper interviewed the driver, Benz Coleman, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed that Coleman was in possession of a quantity of marijuana, stolen merchandise from Colonie Center, and over $800 worth of tools stolen from Home Depot. Coleman was also in possession of a credit card skimmer, altered visa gift cards, and a forged New York State driver’s license.
Coleman was taken into custody and processd at SP Latham and tranported to Albany County Jail to await arraignment.
