On September 3, 2020, State Police in Wilton arrested 35-year-old Kyle E. Katon of Northumberland, for falsely reporting an incident in the third degree (A misdemeanor) and making a punishable false written statement (A misdemeanor).

Katon reported to members of the State Police at Wilton in person and alleged that he was in a vehicle with co workers that were intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle on Ballard Rd in the Town of Wilton.   Katon alleged he became involved in a verbal argument with the operator of the vehicle and the operator stopped the vehicle.    The operator then allegedly dragged Katon from the vehicle with assistance from the front seat passenger and removed several items from Katon’s person, including a wallet.

After an extensive investigation into the allegations, it was determined the incident was fabricated and no such incident occurred.

Katon was arrested at his residence and transported to the State Police in Wilton where he admitted to fabricating the story and providing a false written statement.   He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Wilton and Northumberland Courts on a later date.
