PRESS RELEASE
 

On August 8, 2020 at approximately 1:24 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Jeremy A. Squires, age 45 of Norwich, NY for the felonies of Burglary in the second degree and Criminal Contempt in the first degree.  He was also charged with the misdemeanors of Assault in the third degree, Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree (prevent emergency call) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 

Troopers were dispatched to a report of a physical domestic at a residence on County Highway 35 in the town of Guilford.  When troopers arrived, the male who was identified as Squires had already left the scene. 

A victim reported that Squires broke into their home then prevented the victim from calling for help.  The victim also reported that they were struck by Squires.  The dispute also occurred in the presence of a child. 

The victim was transported to Chenango County Memorial Hospital for treatment.  Troopers from SP Norwich located Squires in the city of Norwich, and he was arrested.  He was transported to SP Norwich where he was processed and virtually arraigned.  Squires was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
