Norwich Troopers respond to fatal crash involving pedestrian

On December 5, 2022, at approximately 6:14 p.m., New York State Police at Norwich responded to a crash involving a pedestrian in town of Sherburne.

An investigation revealed that a four-door sedan was traveling west on State Highway 80 near Rexford Falls when a pedestrian who was standing in the roadway and wearing dark clothing was struck.  She is identified as Megan E. Mikalunas, age 30 of North Norwich, NY and was pronounced deceased on scene.   

The driver of the vehicle, Robert W. Allen, age 57 of Oneida, NY immediately stopped and flagged down another vehicle to call 911. 

Members of Sherburne EMS and members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene. 

The investigation is on-going.
