NYSP responds to fatal crash in Pittsfield

On July 23, 2022, at approximately 2:06 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the report of a one-vehicle crash on Shacktown Mountain Road in the town of Pittsfield. 

On scene, troopers discovered that a vehicle was traveling east on Shacktown Mountain Road when it exited the roadway, went down an embankment and struck trees. 

A 22-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased on scene.  The 22-year-old driver was transported to Bassett Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

Troopers were assisted by Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Pittsfield Fire Department, Sherburne EMS and Otsego EMS.
