PRESS RELEASE

On May 25, 2021 New York State Police at Oneonta arrested a wanted fugitive from the state of Ohio.

Kyle J. Vansteensburg, age 29 was wanted by the Cuyohoga County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio for Attempted Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor after he was one of 27 men arrested in an undercover sting lead by Ohio’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in August 2020.

A tip led troopers to believe that Vansteensburg may be in the Oneonta area.  On May 25, Vansteensburg was found to be the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by troopers for vehicle and traffic violations on State Route 23 in the Town of Oneonta.

Vansteensburg was arrested then processed at SP Oneonta.  He was arraigned in the Town of Oneonta court and remanded to the Otsego Jail on no bail.  He is awaiting an extradition hearing back to Ohio.
