Oneonta troopers respond to fatal crash in Otsego County

Update: The operator is identified as Mackenzie R. Straight, age 17 of Maryland, NY.  
 

Original Release: On August 21, 2022, at approximately 12:09 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta was dispatched by Otsego 911 to a report of a one-vehicle crash on County Highway 42 in the town of Maryland. 

Troopers and Otsego County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found that vehicle had crashed into a tree.  The driver, a 17-year-old female was pronounced deceased on scene. 

A preliminary investigation revealed that the operator was traveling south on County Highway 42 when for an unknown reason, exited the roadway and struck a tree.
