Cornwall, NY – On February 6, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the town of Cornwall for a vehicle and traffic violation.  While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle and the occupants was established. 

 

Troopers discovered a loaded NORINCO 1911 A1 45 automatic handgun in the vehicle.  As a result, a 17-year old and 18-year old were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (Loaded Firearm other than in a person’s home/business); a Class C Felony and Criminal Possession of a Firearm; a Class E Felony. 

 

The 18-year old will reappear before the Town of Cornwall Court and the 17-year old will reappear before the Orange County Probation Supervision Unit.
