Tuxedo, NY – On January 25, 2020, at approximately 1:45 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the town of Tuxedo for a vehicle and traffic violation.  While interviewing the driver, Devon N. Ward, 20, of Newark, DE, probable cause to search the vehicle and the occupants was established.  Both the driver and passenger, Jaquan C. Gilbert, 19, of Rochester, NY, were taken into custody after Troopers discovered a loaded Hi-Point, Model C9, 9mm Luger handgun in the vehicle along with 1 Pro-Mag extended magazine and five 9mm Luger rounds.
Ward and Gilbert were transported and processed at SP Newburgh where they were charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (Loaded Firearm other than in a person’s home/business); a Class C Felony and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device; a Class A Misdemeanor.
The pair were arraigned before the City of Newburgh Court and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or bond.  Both are to re-appear before the Town of Tuxedo Court on January 30, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.
