Bethlehem, NY – On September 12, 2020, at approximately 7:50 p.m., State Police in Albany were notified that a vehicle which was reported stolen out of Schenectady, had entered the Thruway at exit 25A.  Troopers located the 2014 Grey Jeep Compass traveling southbound in the area of mile marker 143.4, in the town of Bethlehem. 

 

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, 25-year old Edward J. Steele, and passenger, Janay D. Jones, 20, both of Schenectady, NY, were taken into custody. 

 

The pair were transported and processed at SP Albany where they were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree; a Class D Felony. 

 

Both Steele and Jones were virtually arraigned before the Town of Bethlehem Court.  Jones was released on her own recognizance, to reappear on October 20, 2020.  Due to multiple prior felony convictions, Steele was remanded to the Albany County Jail with a preliminary hearing set for September 17, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in the Town of Bethlehem.
