Liverpool, NY – On April 13, 2020, at approximately 1:25 a.m., State Police attempted to stop a vehicle on I-90 in the village of Liverpool, for a vehicle and traffic violation, when the operator failed to comply and a pursuit ensued.  The vehicle exited the Thruway at the Liverpool exit and continued to evade Troopers until the operator drove down a dead end street where the vehicle drove off the road and became disabled.  The driver then fled the scene on foot in the residential area but was located a short distance away. 


Matthew Aumell, 27, of Parish, NY, was determined to be intoxicated and was taken into custody.  He was transported and processed at SP Syracuse where his blood alcohol content was determined to be .12%.  Additionally, Aumell has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and as a result, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated; a Class E Felony.


Aumell was also charged with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Arrest; all misdemeanors. 


Aumell was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Liverpool Court on June 9, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.
