Portland, NY – On May 21, 2020, at approximately 11:20 p.m., State Police received a report of a wrong way driver on I-90 in the town of Portland.  Troopers located the vehicle which was traveling west in the eastbound lanes and was able to stop the vehicle.  The driver, Michelle L. Guianen, 33, of Erie, PA, was found to be intoxicated while traveling with her 10-year-old child.

 

Guianen was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Dunkirk, where her blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.17%.  She was subsequently charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child in the Vehicle; a Class E Felony, Reckless Driving; an Unclassified Misdemeanor, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child; a Class A Misdemeanor.

 

Guianen and the child were turned over to a sober third party.  Guianen was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Portland Court on July 7, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
