On October 18, 2020, State Police arrested 55-year-old Deborah A. Patnode of Plattsburgh, following an investigation into an incident that occurred on September 22, 2020, at approximately 1:35 p.m., at the Dollar General, located on State Route 9, in the town of Plattsburgh. Patnode attempted to use a counterfeit $100.00 bill to make a purchase. She initially gave troopers false information as to how she possessed the counterfeit money.  

Patnode was charged with Possession of a Forged instrument and providing a False Written Statement. She was arraigned by the Town of Saranac Court and released under the pre-trial release program. Patnode is to return to the Town of Plattsburgh Court at a later date.
